Reserve Deputy Program

Reserve Deputy Dehaan Thornton
The reserve deputy program has been completely revamped. After being sworn in as Sheriff in 2007 the entire program was changed by Sheriff Huey. The current reserve deputies have completed a selection process including background checks, pyscological testing and drug testing. These tests are the same given prior to employment of a full time law enforcement officer. Each reserve deputy has been trained according to rules set by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training and is fully certified according to Arkansas Law. Four of the reserve deputies also serve as chaplains.
On December 18, 2008, Sergeant Pete Roberts was promoted to Lieutenant. Working under the supervision of Capt. Jackson, Lt. Roberts is responsible for the reserve deputy program.
Reserve deputies assist the full time deputies in all areas including: patrol, civil paper service, prisoner transport, special events and court.
