School Resource Program
|

Deputy Chris Bunch
The school resource program was started by Sheriff Huey in September 2007. The Sheridan Police Department provides resource officers for all Sheridan School System locations in Grant and Saline County. Poyen School System, however, did not have a resource program. Poyen is located between Sheridan and Malvern on U.S. 270 and is several miles from police and medical facilities. Working with Superintendant Jerry Newton, Sheriff Huey realized the need for this program and assigned Deputy Chris Bunch to Poyen Schools at the start of the 2007-2008 school year. This program has been a huge success.
Deputy Bunch patrols the school zone in Poyen (U.S. Highway 270) where daily vehicle traffic passes within a few feet of the school grounds. He also interacts with teachers and students each day while walking the campus. Deputy Bunch works with school administrators to solve problems and provide security during the school day. |
