Chief Deputy Pete Roberts
|
The Grant County Sheriffs Department is directly supervised by Chief Deputy Pete Roberts.
Pete Roberts was promoted to the rank of Chief Deputy on Jan 1, 2012, along with Tom Barnard to Lieutenant and Chris Palmer to Sergeant. Lieutenant Tom Barnard is responsible for supervising patrol.
Patrol deputies respond to calls received by the 911 center and the sheriff's office. After responding, the deputies compile reports that are available to the public, insurance companies, law firms, etc. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) reviews these reports for follow up and possible criminal violations. The findings of CID are then forwarded to the Grant County Prosecutor's Office for warrants and prosecution.
The deputies assigned to the patrol section also patrol the county by driving U.S. highways, state highways and county roads. During these patrols the deputies check residences and businesses searching for criminal activity. Other duties include the transport of prisoners, service of writs and warrants, service of civil papers for the courts and assisting other agencies.
